In this paper, a model is developed to predict the force-elongation response of steel bolts under tension while considering uncertainty and highlighting its impact on joint rotational ductility. The model can be used in FE and component-based models.

Grace Kendall & Artem Beyli published their 1st paper in the Journal of Constructional Steel Research. The paper presents the results of a large experimental campaign on steel T-stubs under high loading rates and different bolt preload conditions, providing valuable insights on the dynamic effects on steel joints.

Our research group just welcomed Aran Naserpour as a PhD student. Aran comes all the way from Iran with a strong background in earthquake simulations and steel structures. At UoS, he will be working on advancing the state of knowledge on flexible steel framing research.

Gregory Georgiou published his 1st journal paper
Gregory Georgiou published his 1st journal paper in the ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering. In this paper, we developed an accurate model for predicting the nonlinear moment-rotation response of steel flush endplate connections. The new model will aid in robust structural simulations and efficient designs.

The consortium for Engineering Research Infrastructures for European Synergies ERIES approved the IMMENSE project as part of the transnational acess fourth call for applications. IMMENSE will investigate SSI effects on a novel dissipative embedded column base connection through large-scale dynamic tests.
